Walt Disney war ein US-amerikanischer Trickfilmzeichner und Filmproduzent, der am 5. Dezember 1901 geboren wurde und am 15. Dezember 1966 verstarb. In den frühen 1920er Jahren begann Disney in Kansas City mit der Produktion von Werbefilmen und Cartoons. 1923 zog er nach Hollywood und gründete mit seinem Bruder Roy O. Disney die Walt Disney Company. Nach einigen Kurzfilmen erfand Disney 1928 Micky Maus. Das machte ihn innerhalb weniger Jahre zu einem der bekanntesten und erfolgreichsten Filmproduzenten weltweit. In den 1930er Jahren entwickelte er den Zeichentrickfilm mit seinem Studio weiter, indem er Ton und Farbe ergänzte. 1937 veröffentlichte Disney mit "Schneewittchen und die sieben Zwerge" den ersten abendfüllenden Zeichentrickfilm. Im Laufe seiner Karriere wurde Walt Disney vom Trickfilmzeichner zum beliebtesten Filmemacher Amerikas. Seine Filme waren bei einem breiten Publikum beliebt und seine Cartoonfiguren wurden zu Kultfiguren. Mit dem 1955 eröffneten Disneyland erfüllte sich Disney einen Lebenstraum und schuf den Beginn einer Reihe weiterer Disney-Parks. In den 1950er Jahren nutzte Disney als einer der ersten Filmproduzenten das Fernsehen für die Präsentation neuer Filme und Serien. Disney wurde mit 26 Oscars ausgezeichnet. Auch nach seinem Tod produzierte die Walt Disney Company erfolgreiche Filme und Serien.
