Chuck Connors war ein Schauspieler, der am 10. April 1921 in Brooklyn, New York geboren wurde und am 10. November 1992 in Los Angeles, Kalifornien verstarb. Connors, mit bürgerlichem Namen Kevin Joseph Aloysius Connors, stammte aus einer irisch-amerikanischen Familie. Er unterbrach sein Studium am Seton Hall College, um in der U.S. Army zu dienen. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg versuchte sich Connors zunächst als Basketballspieler bei den Boston Celtics, wechselte aber bald zum Baseball. Um seine vier Kinder zu versorgen, spielte er Ende der 1940er-Jahre in einer unterklassigen Liga in Los Angeles. Kurze Gastspiele bei den Brooklyn Dodgers 1949 und den Chicago Cubs 1951 blieben Episoden. Insgesamt absolvierte er 67 Spiele in der Major League Baseball. Während seiner Zeit als Baseballspieler wurde Connors von Talentscouts für die Schauspielerei entdeckt. 1952 hatte er seine erste kleine Nebenrolle in dem Film "Pat und Mike". Er erwies sich als talentierter Schauspieler und wurde aufgrund seiner Körpergröße oft in Western und Kriminalfilmen eingesetzt. Seinen Durchbruch feierte Connors mit der Hauptrolle in der Westernserie "Westlich von Santa Fé" (The Rifleman), die von 1958 bis 1963 im Fernsehen lief. 1962 lernte Chuck Connors bei den Dreharbeiten zu "Das letzte Kommando" (Geronimo) die Schauspielerin Kamala Devi kennen, die im Film Geronimos Frau Teela spielte. Die beiden wurden ein Paar und heirateten 1963. Zuvor war Connors bereits einmal verheiratet gewesen. Später traten sie gemeinsam in der Serie "Geächtet" (1965–1966) auf. Connors war insgesamt dreimal verheiratet. Seine zweite Ehe mit Kamala Devi wurde 1972 geschieden. Seine dritte Ehe im Jahr 1977 hielt nur ein Jahr. Bis zu seinem Tod aufgrund einer Lungenkrebserkrankung war Connors regelmäßig in Filmen und Fernsehserien zu sehen.
