Allen Hoskins war ein US-amerikanischer Filmschauspieler, der am 9. August 1920 in Boston, Massachusetts geboren wurde und am 26. Juli 1980 in Oakland, Kalifornien, USA verstarb. Hoskins war einer der ersten afroamerikanischen Schauspieler im Filmgeschäft. Seine Karriere begann schon in jungen Jahren, als er 1922, im Alter von nur zwei Jahren, in der "Die kleinen Strolche"-Episode "One Terrible Day" mitwirkte. Bis 1933 spielte Hoskins in insgesamt 105 Filmen der Serie mit, was ihn zum Darsteller mit den meisten Auftritten machte. Zuletzt verdiente er beachtliche 250 Dollar pro Woche, was ihn zu einem der bestbezahlten schwarzen Schauspieler seiner Zeit machte. Sein Spitzname "Farina" war dabei eher ironisch gemeint, da Farina in den USA eine Mehlsorte bezeichnet. Nach seinem Ausstieg bei den "Kleinen Strolchen" im Jahr 1933 übernahm er nur noch kleinere Rollen in einigen Spielfilmen, zuletzt 1936. Es gelang ihm nicht, an seinen früheren Erfolg anzuknüpfen. Auch seine Versuche als Theaterschauspieler waren nicht von Erfolg gekrönt, da er hauptsächlich in Vaudeville-Produktionen eingesetzt werden sollte. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg diente Hoskins als Soldat. Nach dem Krieg zog er sich vollständig aus der Schauspielerei zurück. Er arbeitete stattdessen als Sozialarbeiter und kümmerte sich im Großraum Los Angeles um obdachlose Jugendliche mit Alkohol- und Drogenproblemen. Bis zu seinem Tod war Hoskins verheiratet und hatte Kinder. Kurz vor seinem 60. Geburtstag starb Hoskins an Krebs.
