Inscription recording the restoration of the basilica of Santa Sabina under Pius XI (1936).
The work, supervised by Antonio Muñoz, began in 1914–1919 under Benedict XV, and continued in the 1930s under Pius XI. The windows in the nave and apse were reopened, the mediaeval schola cantorum was reconstructed, and other changes made by Domenico Fontana under Sixtus V (1587) were reverted, in an attempt to restore the mediaeval appearance of the building.
