Andrea Henkel ist eine ehemalige deutsche Biathletin, die am 10. Dezember 1978 in Gotha, Thüringen, geboren wurde. Sie gilt als eine der besten Biathletinnen ihrer Generation und hat in ihrer Karriere zahlreiche Erfolge erzielt. Henkel begann ihre sportliche Laufbahn im Skilanglauf, bevor sie 1997 zum Biathlon wechselte. Sie trat erstmals bei den Weltmeisterschaften 1999 in Kontiolahti in Erscheinung und gewann ihre erste Goldmedaille bei den Weltmeisterschaften 2005 in Hochfilzen. Im Laufe ihrer Karriere konnte Henkel insgesamt drei Olympische Medaillen gewinnen, darunter zwei Goldmedaillen. Sie war besonders für ihre starke Laufleistung und ihre Präzision beim Schießen bekannt. Henkels größter Erfolg war der Gewinn des Gesamtweltcups in der Saison 2007/08, ein Meilenstein, den sie als eine der wenigen deutschen Biathletinnen erreichte. Henkel gehörte über Jahre hinweg zur absoluten Weltspitze und war konstant erfolgreich bei Weltmeisterschaften und Weltcups. 2014 heiratete Henkel den US-amerikanischen Biathleten Tim Burke. Nach ihrer aktiven Karriere wanderte sie in die Vereinigten Staaten aus und arbeitet dort als Fitnesstrainerin.
