Andrea Henkel ist eine ehemalige deutsche Biathletin, die am 10. Dezember 1977 in Ilmenau geboren wurde. Aufgewachsen in Großbreitenbach, Thüringen, begann ihre sportliche Laufbahn früh, als sie mit vier Jahren erstmals auf Langlaufskiern stand. Ihre ältere Schwester ist die Langlaufolympiasiegerin Manuela Henkel. Ab 1991 besuchte Henkel das Sportgymnasium in Oberhof und wurde 1996 in die Sportfördergruppe der Bundeswehr aufgenommen. Ihr Debüt im Biathlon-Weltcup gab sie im März 1995, bevor sie in der Saison 1998/99 fest zum deutschen Weltcupteam gehörte. Ihren ersten Einzelsieg feierte sie im Dezember 1999 in Pokljuka. Bei den Olympischen Winterspielen 2002 in Salt Lake City gewann Andrea Henkel Gold im Einzel und mit der Staffel. 2005 wurde sie Weltmeisterin über 15 km in Hochfilzen. 2007 sicherte sie sich in Antholz den WM-Titel im Massenstart und mit der Staffel. In der Saison 2006/07 gewann Henkel den Gesamt-Weltcup. 2008 wurde sie in Östersund Doppelweltmeisterin in Sprint und Verfolgung und holte mit der Staffel erneut Gold. 2013 gewann sie in Nové Město noch einmal Silber über 15 km. Am 25. Oktober 2014 heiratete Andrea Henkel den US-amerikanischen Biathleten Tim Burke. Nach dem Ende ihrer aktiven Karriere wanderte sie in die USA aus und arbeitet dort als Fitnesstrainerin.
