Treat Williams war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, der am 1. Dezember 1951 geboren wurde und am 12. Juni 2023 verstarb. Nach seinem Studium am Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania sammelte er erste Bühnenerfahrung am Fulton Repertory Theatre. Seine Karriere im Film begann 1975 mit einer Rolle in "Eiskalt", gefolgt von weiteren Auftritten im Jahr darauf. Der Durchbruch gelang Williams 1979 mit seiner Darstellung des Berger in Miloš Formans "Hair". Diese Rolle brachte ihm eine Golden Globe-Nominierung als Bester Nachwuchsdarsteller ein. In den 1980er und 1990er Jahren wirkte Williams in zahlreichen Kinofilmen mit, darunter "Prince of the City", "Es war einmal in Amerika", "Flashpoint – Die Grenzwölfe" und "Das Phantom". Ab 1983 war er parallel dazu auch im Fernsehen präsent. Von 2002 bis 2006 verkörperte er den Arzt Andy Brown in der Serie "Everwood", wofür er mehrfach nominiert wurde. 2012 spielte er in Roger Cormans "Attack of the 50-Foot Cheerleader". Williams war bis zuletzt aktiv und übernahm weitere Rollen, hauptsächlich im Fernsehen. Sein Werk umfasst über 120 Produktionen. Zuletzt war er von 2016 bis 2022 in der Serie "Chesapeake Shores" zu sehen und hatte Gastauftritte in "Blue Bloods – Crime Scene New York". Ein Film mit ihm, "The Dougherty Gang", wird posthum erscheinen. Der begeisterte Pilot veröffentlichte 2010 das Kinderbuch "Air Show!", das von Robert Neubecker illustriert wurde. Williams war seit 1988 mit Pam Van Sant verheiratet, hatte zwei Kinder und lebte in Manchester Center, Vermont. Er verstarb im Alter von 71 Jahren in einem Krankenhaus in Albany, New York, infolge eines Verkehrsunfalls in Dorset, Vermont, bei dem er auf seinem Motorrad von einem Auto erfasst wurde.
