John Burke Krasinski ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, Filmproduzent, Drehbuchautor und Regisseur, der am 20. Oktober 1979 in Newton, Massachusetts, geboren wurde. Er wuchs als jüngster von vier Brüdern auf und hat polnische und irische Wurzeln. Erste Bühnenerfahrungen sammelte Krasinski in der Highschool. Seine Karriere begann 2002 mit ersten Filmrollen, doch größere Bekanntheit erlangte er durch seine Rolle in der Fernsehserie "Das Büro", in der er von 2005 bis 2013 zu sehen war. Für diese Serie wurde er 2007 und 2008 gemeinsam mit dem Ensemble mit dem Screen Actors Guild Award ausgezeichnet. Krasinski spielte in verschiedenen Filmen, darunter "A New Wave" (2007), "Lizenz zum Heiraten" (2007) und "Ein verlockendes Spiel" (2008), bevor er sich zunehmend hinter der Kamera betätigte. 2009 gab er mit der Verfilmung von David Foster Wallaces "Kurze Interviews mit fiesen Männern" sein Regiedebüt. In den Jahren 2010 bis 2012 führte er bei drei Folgen von "Das Büro" Regie und war 2012 als Drehbuchautor und Schauspieler in "Promised Land" tätig. Krasinskis größter Erfolg als Regisseur kam 2018 mit dem Thriller "A Quiet Place", in dem er nicht nur die männliche Hauptrolle übernahm, sondern auch Regie führte und am Drehbuch mitarbeitete. Der Film war ein großer Erfolg und erhielt 2020 eine Fortsetzung, "A Quiet Place 2", die er ebenfalls inszenierte und mit dem Drehbuch betraute. Krasinski ist seit 2010 mit der Schauspielerin Emily Blunt verheiratet, mit der er zwei Töchter hat (geb. 2014 und 2016). Im November 2024 wurde Krasinski von People zum „Sexiest Man Alive 2024“ gekürt.
