W czasie nauki w gimnazjum wadowickim Wojtyła zagrał m.in.: Hajmona w Antygonie Sofoklesa, Gucia w Ślubach panieńskich Aleksandra Fredry, Hrabiego Henryka w Nie-boskiej komedii Zygmunta Krasińskiego, rolę tytułową w dramacie Zygmunt August Stanisława Wyspiańskiego oraz Kirkora w inscenizacji Balladyny Juliusza Słowackiego. John Paul II Monument, adjacent to Cathedral, in Białystok. Białystok is the largest city in northeastern Poland and the capital of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. It is located in the Białystok Uplands of the Podlachian Plain on the banks of the Biała River. Białystok has historically attracted migrants from elsewhere in Poland and beyond, particularly from Central and Eastern Europe. This is facilitated by the nearby border with Belarus also being the eastern border of the European Union, as well as the Schengen Area. The first settlers arrived in the 14th century and a town grew up receiving its municipal charter in 1692. Białystok has traditionally been one of the leading centers of academic, cultural, and artistic life in Podlachian Plain, and the most important economic center in northeastern Poland. The city continues to reshape itself into a modern middle-sized city and was on the short-list for 2016 European Capital of Culture. The Scotch Mist Gallery contains many photographs of historic buildings, monuments and memorials of Poland.

Niegowić Church - John Paul II Statue. Niegowić was the place of the first appointment of Karol Wojtyła, the future Pope John Paul II, as the 'Church of the Assumption of Our Lady' parish priest. He served there from July 1948 to August 1949, before the then-Cardinal and Archbishop, Prince Adam Sapieha (who had ordained Wojtyła a priest in 1946 on an accelerated schedule, sending him to work on a doctorate in theology in Rome before beginning parish work), assigned him to work at St Florian's Church in Kraków (where he began his work with university students as a chaplain to students of the Jagiellonian University and the Kraków Polytechnic Institute). The Scotch Mist Gallery contains many photographs of historic buildings, monuments and memorials of Poland.
