Bonnie Raitt ist eine US-amerikanische Blues- und Country-Sängerin sowie Gitarristin, die am 8. November 1949 in Burbank, Kalifornien, geboren wurde. Als Tochter des Broadway-Stars John Raitt entdeckte sie früh ihre Liebe zur Musik und arbeitete in den 1970er-Jahren mit Künstlern wie Warren Zevon, Steve Ripley und der Band "Little Feat" zusammen. Trotz ihres Talents blieb der große Durchbruch zunächst aus. Nach Jahren mit Alkohol- und Drogenproblemen verlor sie 1983 ihren Plattenvertrag. Ihr Comeback gelang 1987, als Raitt mit K.d. lang und Jennifer Warnes in Roy Orbisons Fernsehshow auftrat und kurz darauf mit Prince zusammenarbeitete. Der weltweite Erfolg kam 1989 mit dem Album "Nick of Time", das Platz 1 der US-Charts erreichte und ihr drei Grammys einbrachte. Auch die Nachfolgealben "Luck of the Draw" und "Longing in Their Hearts" wurden Millionenbestseller. Für ihr Duett "I’m in the Mood" mit John Lee Hooker erhielt sie einen weiteren Grammy. Raitt wurde 2000 in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame und 2010 in die Blues Hall of Fame aufgenommen. Der Rolling Stone zählt sie zu den größten Sängerinnen und Gitarristinnen aller Zeiten.
