HOUSE WAS BUILT IN 1820 AS THE GRAND SEAT OF REVEREND JAMES KING’S VAST PLANTATION; ANDREW JACKSON WAS A FREQUENT GUEST AND WILLIAM KING ESCORTED HIM TO WASHINGTON FOR HIS INAUGURATION. JOSEPH D. MITCHELL ACQUIRED THE HOUSE CIRCA 1900 AND MARGARET MITCHELL, (I believe this was a different one from the AUTHOR OF GONE WITH THE WIND - see WP:EN:Margaret Mitchell) WAS BORN HERE AND LIVED IN THE HOUSE FOR 99 OF HER 102 YEARS.
