Kevin Durant ist ein US-amerikanischer Basketballspieler, der am 29. September 1988 in Washington, D.C. geboren wurde und seit Juni 2025 bei den Houston Rockets in der NBA spielt. Durant, der als einer der besten seiner Generation gilt, besuchte verschiedene Schulen, darunter die National Christian Academy, Oak Hill Academy und Montrose Christian School, wo er im Senior-Jahr durchschnittlich 23,6 Punkte erzielte. Danach wechselte er zur University of Texas und wurde als erster Freshman zum Collegespieler des Jahres gewählt. Im NBA-Draft 2007 wurde Durant von den Seattle SuperSonics an zweiter Stelle ausgewählt. Seine erste Saison in der NBA begann mit einem Spiel gegen die Denver Nuggets, und er wurde am Ende der Saison zum Rookie of the Year ernannt. 2008 zog das Team nach Oklahoma City um und wurde zu den Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant entwickelte sich dort zu einem Superstar und führte die Liga im jungen Alter von 21 Jahren als bester Korbjäger an. 2016 wechselte Durant zu den Golden State Warriors und gewann dort 2017 und 2018 zwei NBA-Meisterschaften. In beiden Jahren wurde er zum MVP der Finalserie gekürt. Nach einer Verletzung wechselte Durant 2019 zu den Brooklyn Nets, konnte dort aber nicht an seine früheren Erfolge anknüpfen. Im Februar 2023 schloss sich Durant den Phoenix Suns an. Neben seiner NBA-Karriere war Durant auch in der Nationalmannschaft erfolgreich. Er gewann vier Goldmedaillen bei den Olympischen Spielen und wurde 2010 zum MVP der Weltmeisterschaft ernannt. Abseits des Spielfelds hat Durant lukrative Werbeverträge, unter anderem mit Nike, und ist Miteigentümer des MLS-Franchise Philadelphia Union. Durant zeichnet sich durch seine Vielseitigkeit und Korbgefährlichkeit aus, was ihn zu einem schwer zu verteidigenden Spieler macht.
