Brooke Shields ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin, die am 31. Mai 1965 in Manhattan, New York City geboren wurde. Ihre familiären Wurzeln sind vielfältig, ihr Vater war im Vorstand von Revlon und ihre Mutter Schauspielerin. Die Ehe ihrer Eltern zerbrach früh, und sie wuchs bei ihrer Mutter auf, die mit Alkoholproblemen kämpfte. Schon als Baby begann Shields' Karriere als Model, ihre Mutter förderte dies von frühester Kindheit an. Kontroversen entstanden, als sie als Zehnjährige nackt fotografiert wurde. Der Durchbruch zum internationalen Star gelang ihr mit zwölf Jahren in dem Film "Pretty Baby", in dem sie eine junge Prostituierte spielte. Ein weiterer Erfolg war ihre Rolle in "Die blaue Lagune". Shields wurde 1980 als jüngster Gaststar in die Muppet Show eingeladen. Neben ihrer Arbeit vor der Kamera war Shields auch als Produzentin tätig, beispielsweise für ihre eigene Fernsehserie "Susan". Von 1997 bis 1999 war sie mit dem Tennisspieler Andre Agassi verheiratet. Später heiratete sie den Drehbuchautor Chris Henchy, mit dem sie zwei Töchter hat, geboren 2003 und 2006. Im Laufe ihrer Karriere erhielt Shields sowohl positive als auch negative Auszeichnungen. Sie wurde mit dem Jupiter als beste Darstellerin geehrt, erhielt aber auch mehrfach die Goldene Himbeere für ihre schauspielerischen Leistungen. Sie wurde in der VH1-Liste der „100 größten Kinderstars“ auf Platz 12 gewählt und vom Time-Magazin zum „Gesicht der 80er“ gekürt. Shields hat auch Bücher veröffentlicht, darunter eines über ihre Erfahrungen mit postpartaler Depression und eines über ihre Beziehung zu ihrer Mutter.
