Brian Molko ist ein Sänger, Keyboarder und Gitarrist, der am 10. Dezember 1972 in Brüssel, Belgien, geboren wurde. Er ist bekannt als Frontmann der Band "Placebo". Molkos Vater ist amerikanischer Herkunft, während seine Mutter schottisch-französische Wurzeln hat. Molko wuchs aufgrund der Arbeit seines Vaters als Bankier in verschiedenen Ländern auf, darunter Luxemburg, Schottland und Liberia. Molko begann schon in seiner Jugend Musik zu machen, brachte sich das Gitarrespielen bei und lernte auch andere Musikinstrumente. Aufgewachsen in einer religiösen Familie, stieß seine künstlerische Ader und auch sein Hang zu bisexueller Orientierung bei seinen Eltern auf strikte Ablehnung. Daraufhin leget sich Molko ein androgynes Aussehen zu und brach schließlich endgültig mit seinen Eltern. Nach einem Schauspielstudium in London gründete Molko im Jahr 1994 zusammen mit dem schwedischen Bassisten Stefan Olsdal die Band "Placebo". Die Band wurde schnell populär, da sie sich durch ihre einzigartige Mischung aus Alternative Rock, Glam Rock und Post-Punk von anderen Bands der Zeit abhebte. 1996 erschien Placebos Debütalbum "Placebo", welches in Großbritannien in kurzer Zeit Platin-Status erlangte. Es folgte eine Reihe von weiteren erfolgreichen Alben, die allesamt Gold und Platin erreichten, darunter "Without You I'm Nothing" (1998), "Black Market Music" (2000), "Meds" (2006) und viele mehr. Die Band erlangte weltweit Anerkennung mit Hits wie "Nancy Boy", "Pure Morning" und "Every You and Every Me". Molko wurde mit seinem androgynen Erscheinungsbild, seiner charakteristischen Stimme und der provokanten Bühnenpräsenz zur Ikone des Alternative Rock. Er sprach offen über seine bisexuelle Orientierung und trug somit dazu bei, Tabus zu brechen. Mit seiner langjährigen Lebensgefährtin Helena Berg hat Molko einen Sohn namens Cody, der 2005 geboren wurde.
