Rúrik Gíslason ist ein ehemaliger isländischer Fußballspieler, der am 25. Februar 1988 in Reykjavík geboren wurde. Schon in seiner Kindheit zeigte er sportliches Talent und spielte fünf Jahre lang Handball. Seine Fußballkarriere begann in der Jugend bei HK Kópavogur, bevor er kurzzeitig in die Jugendmannschaft des RSC Anderlecht wechselte. Nach einer weiteren Station bei HK Kópavogur zog es ihn nach England zu Charlton Athletic, wo er jedoch hauptsächlich in der Reservemannschaft zum Einsatz kam. 2007 wechselte Gíslason nach Dänemark zu Viborg FF. Dort reifte er in der zweiten Liga zum Stammspieler und Leistungsträger, nachdem er in der ersten Liga anfangs hauptsächlich als Einwechselspieler agierte. Es folgten Stationen bei Odense BK und dem FC Kopenhagen, mit dem er 2013 die dänische Meisterschaft und 2015 den dänischen Pokal gewann. In der Saison 2015/16 wechselte Gíslason zum 1. FC Nürnberg in die 2. Bundesliga. Nach etwa zweieinhalb Jahren schloss er sich dem SV Sandhausen an, wo er bis 2020 spielte. Im November 2020 gab er schließlich sein Karriereende als Fußballspieler bekannt. Bereits im März 2009 hatte Gíslason sein Debüt in der isländischen A-Nationalmannschaft gegeben. Bei der Weltmeisterschaft 2018 in Russland gehörte er zum isländischen Kader und erlangte dort unerwartete mediale Aufmerksamkeit. Nach seiner Fußballkarriere wandte sich Rúrik Gíslason anderen Projekten zu. Er nahm 2021 an der Tanzshow "Let's Dance" teil und gewann diese mit seiner Tanzpartnerin Renata Lusin. Im Jahr 2022 war er als "Gorilla" bei "The Masked Singer" zu sehen. Im Dezember 2023 gewann er die Show "Stars in der Manege", obwohl er sich bei den Proben die Hand gebrochen hatte. Neben seinen Auftritten in zahlreichen TV-Shows wirkte Rúrik Gíslason auch in Filmen mit, darunter "Cop Secret" und "Eine Million Minuten". Er ist zudem Mitbegründer des Glacier Gin und führt sein eigenes Modelabel BÖKK. Auch politisch war er aktiv und kandidierte bei den isländischen Parlamentswahlen 2016 und 2017. Er war ab 2018 mit dem Model Nathalia Soliani liiert. Rúrik Gíslason ist ein vielseitig interessierter Mensch.
