Mary Eileen McDonnell, geboren am 28. April 1952 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, USA, ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin. Nach 20 Jahren Theaterarbeit wurde sie 1990 an der Seite von Kevin Costner durch den Western "Der mit dem Wolf tanzt" weltweit bekannt. Für ihre Rolle erhielt sie unter anderem Oscar- und Golden Globe-Nominierungen als beste Nebendarstellerin. Weitere Nominierungen folgten für ihre Hauptrolle in "Passion Fish" (1992). McDonnell spielte auch die First Lady in "Independence Day" (1996) und war für ihre Gastrolle in "Emergency Room" (2002) für einen Emmy nominiert. Ihre bekannteste Rolle hatte McDonnell jedoch als Präsidentin Laura Roslin in der Serie "Battlestar Galactica" (2003-2009). Weitere Auftritte hatte sie unter anderem in "Grey's Anatomy" (2008) und als Captain Sharon Raydor in "The Closer" (2009-2012) und dessen Spin-off "Major Crimes". McDonnell war mit dem Schauspieler Randle Mell verheiratet und hat zwei gemeinsame Kinder.
