Neben der Musikbranche war Durst als Vizepräsident bei Interscope Records tätig und gründete das Label Flawless Records. Dursts Privatleben war ebenfalls von öffentlichen Ereignissen geprägt, darunter eine umstrittene Beziehung zu Britney Spears und ein veröffentlichtes Sexvideo. In den späten 2000ern versuchte er sich als Regisseur im Filmgeschäft.
