Chris Harms ist ein deutscher Musiker, der am 22. Januar 1980 in Hamburg geboren wurde. Bekanntheit erlangte er als Gründer, Sänger und Rhythmusgitarrist der Band Lord of the Lost, oft auch LOTL genannt, die im Jahr 2009 ins Leben gerufen wurde.
Seine Kindheit verbrachte Harms zunächst in Hamburg und München, bevor seine Familie nach Dortmund-Kirchhörde zog. Dort besuchte er die Rudolf-Steiner-Schule, bevor es zurück nach Hamburg ging. Bereits mit fünf Jahren begann er, Cello zu lernen und nahm später an Wettbewerben wie Jugend musiziert teil. Wolfram Huschke brachte ihm zwischen 1996 und 1998 auch andere Musikstile wie Jazz, Rock und Metal auf dem Cello näher. Harms erlernte autodidaktisch E-Gitarre und Bassgitarre. Eine wichtige Inspiration war das Album "Joyride" von Roxette, das er mit elf Jahren entdeckte.
Im Alter von 15 Jahren schrieb Harms seine ersten Songs und sammelte erste Banderfahrungen. 1999 gründete er seine erste Band Philiae, aus der er 2004 ausstieg. Im selben Jahr war er an der Gründung der Glamrock-Band The Pleasures beteiligt und startete das Soloprojekt Vagueness. Von 2002 bis 2004 studierte Harms Tontechnik und war danach mehrere Jahre als Dozent tätig. 2006 wurde er Sänger und Songwriter bei der Electro-Band Unterart und startete 2007 das Soloprojekt Lord, aus dem später Lord of the Lost entstand.
Neben seiner Bandtätigkeit war Harms auch als Produzent aktiv und komponierte unter anderem Klingeltöne und Partyschlager-Songs. Er wirkte als Studiomusiker und Tontechniker an Produktionen anderer Künstler mit, darunter Joachim Witt und Nino de Angelo. Im Dezember 2012 gründete Harms mit Weggefährten das deutschsprachige Projekt Harms & Kapelle und das im Metalbereich anzusiedelnde Over The Jordan. 2017 unterstützte Harms die Band KMFDM als Live-Gitarrist. Im März 2023 vertrat er mit Lord of the Lost Deutschland beim Eurovision Song Contest. Im Februar 2025 veröffentlichte Harms ein Solo-Album im Electro-Synth-Pop-Stil mit dem Titel "1980".
Harms ist verheiratet, hat einen Sohn und lebt in Hamburg St. Pauli. Der Künstlername "Harms" ist der Mädchenname seiner Mutter, die als Model arbeitete. Seit Januar 2024 betreibt Harms zusammen mit dem Musiker Swiss den Podcast "Swiss und Harms: Zwischen Tour und Angel".
